Topic  :  Ministry  Of  Rural  And  Regional  Development

Two  years  back  the  on  the  28  January  2010, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak unveiled a programme known as the Government Transformation Programme (GTP).The main objective is to contribute in making the country a developed and high-income nation as similar in Vision 2020.The Government Transformation Programme (GTP) is an effort by Malaysia's current Government mainly in seven key areas concerning the people of the country. One of it is improving rural basic infrastructure. 35% of the Malaysian population live in rural areas with minimal access to proper roads, water and electricity supply. In my opinion , more effort is put to make longer roads, more houses ,better electricity supply and filtered water supplied to all houses. Instead of building 11 times as many kilometres of road which was done during GTP Programme,22 times as many kilometres of road should be made in the rural area.  These elements are basic human rights and should be accessible to all Malaysians regardless of location and economic background. Rural Economy Funding Scheme(SPED) was implemented by the government for economy empowerment purposes. The main objective for this scheme is to increase the number of rural Bumiputera entrepreneurs in all dynamic and legal economic areas and provide funds for Bumiputera entrepreneurs only. Since we have the “1 MALAYSIA” concept, every citizen should obtain equal rights including funds for entrepreneurs in rural area.By this method, the living standards of all citizens of Malaysia will rise not just the Bumiputeras. However, the ministry will be implementing the Sustainable Rural Program which is one of the main programs under the 21st Century Rural Program which will be implemented from 2013 to 2015.Thus,more such programmes must be implemented so there is a radical change for the development of rural economy in order for Malaysia to achieve high-income status.

Addressing sustainable development issues in rural areas and advancement that will   take place.

  1. Well I totally agree to your opinion where more effort should be put into meeting the basic needs of the citizens such as building more houses, supplying clean and sufficient water and of course having proper roads. I would like to make one extra suggestion that is the government should focus and put in more effort on accelerating agricultural modernization. To achieve this the spreading of scientific and technological education is necessary especially among the farmers and the people who are involved actively in agriculture activities.
