KTM Komuter

In August 1995, the very first electric train service in Malaysia was known as the KTM Komuter which connects Kuala Lumpur City Centre with the surrounding areas such as Tanjung Malim, Rawang, Seremban, Sungai Gadut and Port Klang. It is a very popular form of transportation to be used daily by Malaysian to get them to their destination. This is because it provides safe and fast transport with a reasonable price.

KTM Komuter ( New Version )

However, nowadays there are numerous uprising complaints by the users of the KTM Komuter because the trains are often delayed, does not arrive on time and often experiencing technical difficulties while operating. Hence, the users could not arrive to their destination on time. There are also numerous train stations that are not up to date, such as the KTM Komuter’s automated fare collection system that are often always out of service. Therefore, creating a long queue for the users to exit the train station by manually collecting the tickets.

On the other hand, the time interval for the trains to arrive are too long. The users have to wait for about 20 minutes for the next train to take them to their destination if they were to miss it. Furthermore, during peek hours the trains are always jam packed with peoples making the ride uncomfortable for the users.

As the minister of the ministry of transport, I would like to spend some time and effort to improve and further upgrade all of the trains and it's stations to ensure that everyone will have a pleasurable ride to their destination. The first thing that I would like to do is to increase the capacity of the coaches and the frequency of the trains. This is to ensure that the users will be comfortable and will not have to wait for a long time for the next train to arrive.

KTM Komuter's Automated Fare Collection System

Furthermore, I would make sure that the KTM Komuter’s automated fare collection system are always functioning properly to prevent the unnecessary long queue. Other than that, I would also like to improve to railway of the trains by adding more tracks to connect much more cities together.

If all these issues could be overcome, Malaysia will have an amazing transportation system that will ease the jam on the road as more people could travel to any destination at anytime. This will make Malaysia a greener place to live in.

  2. Yes i assuredly agree with all those steps. It is a good way of increasing the capacity of coaches in order to accommodate a larger number of passengers in the train. Furthermore, adding more tracks to link to many places in the city is also a good way of avoiding the strain of siding in a massive traffic jam especially during the peak hours.

  6. I agreed with your suggestion. Especially the part of collection system. Once my friend come to kl by KTM, he don't know he have to buy the ticket since the gates are open and people who take the KTM does not need to scan the ticket or card. This cause him to get a penalty around RM40 when he out the station without a ticket. I think its not my friend faults but the KTM system!

    1. Wow! A RM40 penalty?!? How absurd! This is a major issue that the users are facing that have to be rectified ASAP. Thank you Mei Ling for agreeing.

  8. I totally agree to your statement !!!The time interval for the train is quit long which makes the passengers uncomfortable to ride using the train..During weekend and peak season the train will be too packed.I hope the ministry should shorten the time interval or else must increase the train tracks which makes the passengers life like bed of roses. So that, the passengers don't need to wait for long time..

  9. Hey. I agree with all the issues and solutions that you have stated. Especially the technical difficulties, such as the number of coaches in the train. By increasing that factor, definitely more space will be provided for people who travel to and fro using the KTM service. Time delay is another factor. I enjoyed reading your article :)

  10. I agree with your statement. The KTM always delay. This will cause the person who wanted to be in time on work would have late. In order to overcome the factor, the government should have build more space fore KTM, as more train can be used. This will also decrease the amount of the people inside KTM. As the number of train is increase, the people will not be late to work or school. You have done a great job!

  12. I strongly agree with your opinion that train services are often been delayed. This article did caught my eyes and I also do have a lot of issue to discuss with .I have been a loyal KTM traveler and I believe that there is a lot to be done by the KTM officers in charge in order to enhance a better train services in the near future as the percentage of public using KTM services is increasing year by year. And if this continues, I am afraid that it is better for us to travel by our own and getting stuck in the traffic jam rather than waiting for approximately half and hour for the train to arrive because it makes no difference for us travelling using public transport or own transport.Even the purpose of providing the public transport is to save the time of journey and certainly reduces global warming, but the main focus is the time as we often races against time and I am pretty sure nobody wants to reach late to their destination. Therefore I agree that the KTM authorities should solve this issue by hook or by crook by increasing the frequency of train arriving at each stations. If this happens, I am also sure all would be happy boarding the train with a smile on their face and the determination in them that they would arrive their destination on time. Overall,I am still not satisfy by the current train service provided by KTM and I am still having the faith in them that they would try to resolve this issue as soon as possible before public begin to boycott the train services and often travel using their own transport rather than boarding the train. You have done a brilliant job.
