WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!!

Recently, the whole world especially us,Malaysians were in shock state upon hearing the news of a terrorist attack in the eastern Malaysian state of Sabah,Borneo. It is believed that several armed men from the Philippines invaded into the Malaysian territory, which is Sabah on February 9 2013.They were part of the 'royal family' of the self-proclaimed Sultan of Sulu, Jamalul Kiram III,who also claims to be the heir of the throne of the Sultanate of Sulu.

Since then, the situation had became worst and devastating which involves in political and diplomatic issues for both Malaysia and Philippines, with several shootouts which eventually lead to deaths on both Malaysian security forces and the rebels. In a press release, the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Ministry of Defense stated that 'Malaysia consider these group as terrorists following their atrocities, violence, and brutalities committed in the killing of Malaysia's security personnel, two in Lahad Datu, 6 in Semporna,Sabah. The rebels have called for a ceasefire but that proposal was rejected by the Prime Minister Of Malysia, Datuk Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, who demanded for an unconditional surrender instead.

There were several locations in Sabah that were believed to be the location of the Sulu intruders. It is mentioned that six policemen and six intruders were killed in a gun battle at the Simunul water village in Semporna. Then at Kampung Senallang Lama, approximately 7km from Simunul a former Moro National Liberation Front(MNLF) commander who was armed with M16 assault rifle and a grenade launcher was said to have rounded up villagers as hostages at a mosque. He was then killed by the local youths. On the purported sightings of about 10 intruders at about 10pm on Saturday in Kunak, where they were seen entering Kampung Long Malor and Kampung Dasar Lama, Ismail said three of them were armed and were in fatigues that were similar to that worn by the Sulu group at Tanduo village.
Describing the intruders as “not strong”, Zulkifeli said that he has sent two more army battalions to Semporna and Kunak as a public confidence builder.
The terrorist attack in Sabah lasted for about 1 1/2 months and this is certainly a dreadful and unforgettable experience faced by the Villagers/residents of Sabah and also the Malaysian troops that had done a brilliant job in protecting the coast of Sabah from further attack by the Sulu intruders. For sure many questions will be asked and answers to be directed  by the Ministry Of Defense in order to protect the nation from a terrorist attack in future. One of the prime question to this event is, 'how do we prevent our nation from  further attack by terrorist'? The first step is a foreign policy that rests on a simple principle, 'we're prepared to defend ourselves, but we threaten no one'. This principle should be ingested into all nations in order to prevent such terrorism attack to occur in future. this also applies to our nation as well. Besides, The Ministry should also consider extending their forces along the coast and also in the air. Additional trainings for soldiers and police force with experiences should also be given into consideration. With this systematic methods being implemented into our defense system,it would definitely be a hard task for terrorist to invade or trying to invade our country and causing chaos to the societies.

  1. I AGREE WITH YOUR PRINCIPLE.BUT BY EXTENDING THEIR FORCES ALONG THE COAST AND IN THE AIR,DO YOU THINK IT'S REALLY HELPFUL?AND IN MY OPINION INSTEAD OF GIVING EXTRA TRAININGS TO SOLDIERS,HOW ABOUT GIVING THEM MORE POWERFUL MACHINE GUNS TO USE?
