Save the Environment by Recycling

Recycling is one of the important ways to prevent natural resources such as, petroleum from depleting. Recycling also plays a major role on preventing excessive deforestation. As we can observe, many trees in Malaysia have been cut down. The objectives of recycling are to minimize the resources utilization and emissions of all streams of materials in the production cycle. In this context, almost all Malaysian citizens are attentive of the importance of recycling, but the numbers those who are showing importance in it is decreasing.
“ Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning Corporation (PPSPPA) Recycling and Public Awareness Division principal assistant director Ismail Mohamed said 99 per cent of the 17,000 respondents interviewed during the survey admitted that they were aware of the reuse, reduce and recycle (3R) programme, but only 68.8 per cent were committed in putting it into practice ( Borneo Post, January 1 2013)”
As we can see only least amount of people, are putting recycling into practice. As i am the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in order to encourage Malaysians to recycle, there are few steps I have brought up. Since there are many festivals such as Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas and many other festivals, money would be given among family members. In this context, the money envelope which is used to put money in it, would be made out of recycled paper. All the banks and other premises should provide money envelope which is made up of recycled paper. This will not only reduce the deforestation rate in Malaysia, but also encourage people to practice recycling. For example, recycling one ton of newspaper can save 17 small trees. In addition, paper manufacturer from secondary fibres can use 60% less water and energy than equal virgin paper. To sum up, by recycling, our environment can be protected and we can live in a fresh air environment which is filled with greens.

“KUALA LUMPUR: Society's level of awareness and knowledge of the 3R campaign (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) has increased from 85.9 per cent in 2009 to 99 per cent this year.Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Zaini Md Nor said the 13.1 per cent increase was due to aggressive promotion and public awareness activities from 2010 to this year. ( General News Straits Times, October 16 2013)”
Other than that, I would like to carry out campaign called ‘Colour Me Green Campaign’ and 3R campaigns, more frequently for the public. These campaigns will be carried out in schools, offices and many other public areas. In this campaign, recycled things such as newspapers, plastic bottles and many other recycled materials should be collected. In this context, Malaysian citizens especially youths can instill environment friendly attitude. To sum up, our beloved country  Malaysia, can be eco-friendly and green country ,rich with natural resources and fresh environment.

  2. Recycling is much more important in society nowadays. Or else, the natural resources, such as trees will be distinguish. It was quite pity for our next generations because they do not even know how was the tree look like and they only can see it from the books but not in reality. I agree with your article, it had showed to our society that we should have more campaign and also reduced using the paper in order to use the recycle paper. I would also like to suggest that, the society should use their own recycle bag when they went for shopping. Nice try!

Well yeah, the society have started using their own recycle bag especially every Saturday in shopping malls. 3. Recycling is just one of many ways that we can help the environment. Every step that we take, however small, is one more towards helping and supporting the environment in which we live. Getting everyone involved, from kids to adults, can help produce a better environment for many generations to come. I strongly agree with your suggestions to make our country better place to live.

  4. Nowadays, everyone know about recycling. We even can see lots of the recycles bin in the public or mostly in the school. But how many people are really having this attitude is a totally different thing. I agreed with what u suggest, carry out campaign. This will give a practice to people having the recycling attitude. And also not to shy doing recycling.

  5. Recycling is one of the most feel-good and useful environmental practices around. The benefits go way beyond reducing piles of garbage - recycling protects habitat and biodiversity, and saves energy, water, and resources such as trees and metal ores. Recycling also cuts global warming pollution from manufacturing, landfilling and incinerating.I agree with your suggestions.

  8. Great info to be shared. Thank you ! Deforestation is one most important element to be given attention by all. This will lead to global warming and we will never have a chance to get a fresh breath if government never put a stop in it. Probably this will badly effect the coming generation, no green found in Malaysia. To avoid all this, recycling is most effective way of saving the earth whereby we can save all the nature which is needed to produce plastics and papers. Save papers, Save Trees. :)
