The Works Ministry is willing to offer audit expertise to the party responsible for maintenance of Jalan Genting Highland, where an accident which claimed 37 lives occurred when a bus skidded and plunged into a ravine last month.
Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof said the affected road is a private road.
"The ministry is prepared to offer audit experts and provide suggestions to improve the road stretch to make it safer.
"It is up to them. If they agree, we are prepared to send our experts," he told reporters after opening the Ecobuild Southeast Asia 2013 at the Putra World Trade Centre here today.
The three-day event, held for the first time in Malaysia, attracted 250 exhibitors from 22 countries, namely Singapore, Canada, China and Taiwan.
Fadillah said this when asked on improvements to the stretch of road where the bus skidded and plunged into a ravine at KM3.6 on Aug 21.
Fadillah said the ministry was also looking into accident-prone road stretches to make them safer for motorist.
On efforts to increase the use of a more environment-friendly energy, Fadillah said the ministry would continue to carry out pilot projects using a more efficient lighting technology to replace existing street lights.
Most roads were now installed with LED bulbs as they were energy-saving lamps, as well as more efficient and environment-friendly, he added.
